Launching my first physical store in Whitefield, Bangalore has been one of the most meaningful milestones of my entrepreneurial journey. What started as interest slowly turned into purpose.

When we launched our website on 14th January 2025, everything suddenly felt more real. From that moment, sourcing was no longer just about products. It became about people, stories, and preserving authenticity. Every trip became more than work. It became memory.

I still remember taking a train nearly three hours from Kolkata to meet Bikas in Dhatrigram. Sitting beside him, watching the loom move rhythmically, and understanding how every thread carries patience and skill changed how I looked at sarees forever.

Later, I travelled to Jiaganj in Murshidabad to meet Indranil. There, handloom is not just a profession. It is heritage, passed through generations. Skills are not written in manuals. They live in the hands of families.

Another unforgettable moment was in Krishnanagar. I had simple luchi sabzi at the railway station while waiting for my train back to Kolkata. I am still not sure whether hunger made it taste better, but it was amazing. These small moments shaped the soul of CREATUNIQ.

 

 The Vision: A Store That Celebrates Handloom & Handcraft

Through these experiences, a few realities became very clear:

• Handwoven sarees take weeks, sometimes even months, to create.
• Many people still do not know the difference between powerloom and authentic handloom sarees.
• Brass décor created through traditional sand casting techniques carries generations of knowledge.
• Handmade ceramics are never identical — and that is their beauty.

Yet despite their richness, many of these crafts struggle in a market dominated by mass production and fast consumption. Today, many online platforms sell powerloom sarees while calling them handloom. Semi-synthetic fabrics are often marketed as pure. Customers unknowingly buy these products, and genuine artisans are the ones who suffer.

I truly hope for a day when transparency becomes the norm. A day when customers can easily identify authentic handloom, and when this craft regains the respect it deserves.

While Bangalore offers many retail choices, I felt there was space for a premium saree shop in Whitefield that focuses on authenticity, heritage, and slow fashion.

Another practical reason was Bangalore’s traffic. Being present and hands-on in the early stages of a new store is important, and opening a store close to home allows me to deeply understand customer preferences and build the brand from the ground up.
